DELTA Fiber once again delivered strong financial and operational results in 2024. The fiber & telecom company achieved a 13% increase in revenue, reaching €443 million, and a 21% rise in EBITDA, totaling €236 million. This growth was driven by an increase in customers across the consumer, business, and wholesale markets.
In total, DELTA Fiber’s network now reaches 1.7 million households (HP – Homes Passed, meaning fiber is available in the street), of which 1.1 million are connected (HC – Homes Connected, meaning fiber is installed in the home). The number of customers grew from 527,000 to 594,000. Investments in 2024 amounted to over €378 million, a decrease from €600 million in 2023, when fiber rollout peaked. Now that a large part of the Netherlands is equipped with fiber, the large-scale rollout has been scaled back.
CEO Marco Visser stated: "2024 was a financially strong year. Thanks to significant customer growth, we achieved a 13% increase in revenue and a 21% rise in EBITDA. This proves that our ‘Fiber First’ strategy is working. We are building both a future-proof network and a financially healthy organization."
In 2024, DELTA Fiber took important steps to strengthen its market position. It was announced that the Caiway brand would continue under the DELTA name, creating a unified brand experience and greater visibility. The maximum internet speed was also increased to 8 Gbps, and DELTA Fiber was once again named the fastest internetprovider in the Netherlands by nPerf, a global broadband network quality and speed testing organization.
Additionally, 2024 marked the first full year of successful wholesale collaboration with Odido. Around 20 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) now offer services via DELTA Fiber’s open network. This fosters more competition on the DELTA Fiber network, giving consumers and businesses more choice.
DELTA Fiber has taken a firm stance against overbuilding – the installation of multiple fiber networks in the same area. This leads to unnecessary costs, wasted materials and labor, and higher prices for consumers. To prevent this, several projects were paused in 2024, and the sale of part of the network (approximately 200,000 addresses) to Glaspoort was announced. This strategy aligns with the goal of an efficient and sustainable fiber rollout in the Netherlands. DELTA Fiber is awaiting a decision from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) regarding the sale to Glaspoort.
In 2024, the company further professionalized its ESG-policy. CFO Huib Costermans, responsible for sustainability, stated:
"We aim for net-zero emissions by 2040 and are continuously and actively working to make our operations and supply chain more sustainable."
Looking ahead to 2025, DELTA Fiber anticipates continued growth in customers, revenue, and EBITDA, along with lower investments. As a result, the company expects to generate a positive operational cashflow for the first time in 2025.
