DELTA Fiber welcomes a new shareholder: the American investment company Stonepeak. EQT reinvests in DELTA Fiber through a consortium with Stonepeak. DELTA Fiber is the fastest grower on the Dutch fiber market. EQT and Stonepeak’s new shareholding confirms DELTA Fiber’s growth strategy: accelerated fiber rollout throughout the Netherlands.

The Swedish private equity EQT already owned DELTA Fiber, the company was housed in Fund III. EQT Fund III now sells DELTA Fiber to a consortium of EQT Fund V and Stonepeak. Both investors take a 50 percent share in the company.

Two leading international investors joining DELTA Fiber, confirms our success in recent years,” says Marco Visser, CEO DELTA Fiber. “That EQT chooses to invest in our company again, together with Stonepeak, shows confidence in our ambitious plans for the future. Together they provide us with a solid foundation for further growth.”

2 million fiber connections

Under EQT’s shareholding, the company invested heavily in the roll out of fiber. The company, with almost a million connections today, about 50.000 kilometers of fiber, managed to occupy a strong position on the Dutch fiber market. DELTA Fiber recently announced a new ambition: 2 million connections by 2025. For this rollout, DELTA Fiber has attracted a financing of 2 billion euros from a consortium of national and international banks.

Connecting quarter of the Netherlands

Together, EQT and Stonepeak will support DELTA Fiber in their ambition to covering a quarter of the country with fiber broadband. Both parties are committed to invest significantly in the digitalization of the Netherlands by fiber rollout in primarily suburban and rural areas for both homes and businesses.

The transaction is subject to approval by supervisory authorities in the Netherlands and Europe and is expected to close by the end of 2021.
